1982 nyarán egy ifjúsági csoporttal voltunk a Német Demokratikus Köztársaságban. 3 autóval mentünk Drezda közelébe. Odafelé megálltunk Prágában és a Cseh-NDK határmenti Decin-ben szálltunk meg egyik barátomék rokonánál. Remek knédli-t csinált. Prága nem igazán fogott meg, nagyon szürke és jellegtelen volt. Pedig már akkor is ugyanazok az épületek álltak Prágában melyeket 30 év múlva volt szerencsém alaposan bejárni és nagyon tetszettek.
A határ túloldalán megnéztük a Szász-Svájcnak nevezett tájegységet ami arról híres, hogy a "remek" Winettou filmek egyes jeleneteit itt forgatták. Kicsit a Grand - kanyonra emlékeztet, persze miniben.
NDK még a maga hasonló szürke szocialista valóságával is jobb helynek tünt akkor. Persze nem tudtunk a Statsi mindent átszövő ügynökrendszeréről. Bizonyára rólunk is volt jelentés leadva. 10-12 magyar fiatal egy kis városban, egyházi szervezésben!
Nagyokat kirándultunk megnéztük a lerombolt és a tipikus szocreál stílusban újjáépített Drezdát és környékét. Ennyi volt a nagy út. Sajnos Berlinbe nem jutottam el akkor, mint azóta se, pedig a Fal nagyon érdekelt volna "élőben." De azért jó, hogy ezt már lehetetlen megtenni.
During the summer of 1982 I visited the German Democratic Republic (DDR) with a youth group. We went to the neighbourhood of Dresden. We stopped for a short sigthseeing in Prague and spent a night in Decin which is at the German - Czech border but still in Czech. Prague was not so exciting that time and I did not like it much. It was grey and boring. Just like Budapest or any other communist cities, I guess. However Prague had the same very old buildings that time already which I could enjoy very much 30 years later.
In the DDR we visited Sachen-Schweitz (" Saxon-Switzerland") which is a quite nice area in south Germany. A bit similar to the Grand-Canyon but in small scale of course. One of the famous and quite popular indian films wich is based on the novel of Karl May was filmed there.
The DDR with all its grey and boring sights still seemed a better place than Budapest. Of course we did not know to much about the Statsi agent system with all its polip hands. I am pretty sure we were also reported. 10-12 Hungarian youngsters in a small village in church organisation! Danger to the system! :-) They must have known about us.
We had great tours in the nature, we saw the completely destroyed Dresden which was rebuilt in the ugly soc.real (social realistic) style. That was my first trip to Germany but still to its East and communist part. Unfortunately I could not visit Berlin (not even so far) however I was always very interested in The Wall and its environment. I wanted to see it in live but it is better that I have no chances any more.
